Founded in 1872, Lyon College is the oldest higher education institution in the state of Arkansas. Approximately 600 students attend this top liberal arts college that has been recognized nationally by publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Washington Monthly and Princeton Review. Students can choose from 15 major courses of study or work with advisors on an individualized degree program. Additionally, the college is renowned for its Scottish Heritage Program and each spring hosts the Arkansas Scottish Festival.
The 136-acre campus features modern, attractive facilities, such as the state-of-the-art Derby Center for Science and Mathematics, the black-box Holloway Theatre, Lyon Business and Economics Building, Edwards Commons student center and dining hall and the picturesque Brown Chapel, which seats 500 for plays, concerts, convocations and lectures. Students can also embrace the outdoors in recreational spaces like the climbing grotto, disc golf course, hiking and biking trail, sand volleyball court, zipline and ropes course and Bryan Lake.
